Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa
He was one of the big surprises of last year´s Porsche GT3 Cup Middle East: Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, who entered this highly valued and very challenging series with no car racing experience at all, only looking back to about ten years of experience in karting. But nevertheless the then 16-year old proved to be up to the job from the very first race in Bahrain onward, when he immediately scored two podium finishes, in the Rookie and in the Bronze class.
“It was a great feeling to be up there on the podium – so my aim is to repeat this as many times as possible during the season”, the son of BIC Chairman Sheik Salman Al Khalifa was ever so happy then – and he succeeded in reaching his goals, even winning repeatedly in his categories and finally being classified as runner-up in both.
Being part of Team Bahrain, the national squad of the Kingdom of Bahrain, again in the 2017/18 season, but having moved up to the Silver class this year, Isa feels well on his way to his great goal of becoming a professional racing driver. “With the help of Walter Lechner and the ever so professional structure he has built up here in Bahrain with his Driver Academy, I have a very good basis, now it is up to me to use my chance and make the next steps.”
