Presentation: Team Frijns

For Rob Frijns taking part in the Porsche Cup GT3 Middle East is a family affair, as the 55-year-old forms the Team Frijns  Structural Steel Middle East together with his son Charlie.

Rob, who is a successful entrepreneur in the steel business , lives in Qatar for some years already and followed his racing passion in the national Championship there before rising to the most prestigious GT3 series in the Middle East.

Twice, in 2014/15 and 2015/16, the Dutchman finished runner-up in the Bronze category, so it’s only natural that for the new season he set his goals a little bit higher: „I finally want to win the Bronze category this year.“

Charlie Frijns is following his  father’s footsteps in the Porsche Cup GT3 Middle East. The 25-year-old already raced there for the first time in the 2011/12 season. From then on he made his way further and further up through the field.

In 2014/15 and 2015/16 Charlie, who as a rather professional driver competes in the gold category, finished fifth in the overall classification. This season he wants to make it into the Top Three overall, „and of course my other main goal is to finally score my first victory in the Porsche Cup Middle East.“

Frijns, who lives in his Dutch home country as well as in Qatar, has a great example of a professional racing driver to follow in his own family: His cousin Robin once even made it into the Sauber F1 team and is currently racing in FormulaE.
