Drivers in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East Season 9 began preparations for the new season by completing two days of testing at the Bahrain International Circuit in the latest edition of new Porsche GT3 Cup.


08/11/17: Oman’s Al Faisal Al Zubair returns to Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East Season 9 alongside local newcomer Khalid Al Wahaibi

Also representing Oman is another young rising star, Khalid Al Wahaibi. After rising through the ranks of professional Go Karting and impressing in the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship last year, Al Wahaibi joins the grid for Season 9. He and Al Zubair will be among a number of young, talented drivers set to take on international racers on home soil.


07/11/17: Kuwait’s Zaid Ashkanani to feature in opening race of Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East Season 9

Ashkanani is best known for his breakthrough performance in Season 6 of the series when he clinched the drivers’ title to become the youngest ever winner of the championship on a dramatic final day. But the Kuwaiti star has not featured in the region’s most professional and successful one-make series since he completed Season 7 in second place in 2016.

Season 9 of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East is poised to be the most international in the history of the series with nine different nations to feature on a highly competitive grid when the championship starts in Bahrain on the 17th November, 2017.

Born on the 23rd of July 1992, he started his racing career only last year in the national Saudi Race Festival Championship with a Porsche 997 hat was run for him by Lechner Racing. But without any experience in karting like so many other beginners in motor racing the step into high profiled series is quite a big one.
